SIMPLECOAT: WHY A LITTLE GOES A LONG WAY

When you’re in the market for a stone sealer that will protect your countertops and other stone surfaces, you have a lot of choices. But not all stone sealers are equal. To compare products, you’ll need to consider many things, including:

  • The ingredients – are they toxic? Can you feel good about using the product in your home?

  • The product’s usefulness – is it something you can use on a variety of surfaces beyond just stone?

  • The product’s cost – how much will you need to spend to protect your stone and stainless steel surfaces?

In this post, we’ll focus on the last point: cost. Sometimes, the price on the bottle can be misleading as you search for the best stone sealer to use in your home.

HOW MUCH DOES SIMPLECOAT COST?

Before you buy any stone sealer to use in your home, it’s important to understand what it costs in real terms.

To give you an idea of what we mean, let’s start by looking at SimpleCoat. It’s a nontoxic product that you can use to seal and protect your stone countertops and stainless steel appliances, as well as other surfaces in and around your home.

An 8-ounce bottle of SimpleCoat retails for $44.95. That might seem like a lot when you compare it to other similar products, but let’s break it down.

The eight ounces of SimpleCoat in a single bottle can be used to treat and protect:

  • 3,000 square feet of stone surfaces; or

  • 7,000 square feet of stainless steel surfaces

For stone surfaces, that breaks down to a cost of $.015 per square foot, which is only a little over a penny per square foot. The amount is less than half that for stainless steel surfaces, coming in at just $.0075 per square foot. Multiplying that up, the cost is $15.00 per one thousand square feet for stone surfaces and just $7.50 for stainless steel. Depending on use, your bottle of SimpleCoat could last you well over a year.

HOW TO COMPARE THE COST OF STONE SEALERS

With our analysis of SimpleCoat’s cost per square foot and per one thousand square feet, we’ve set up a framework that will enable us to compare the real costs of other stone sealers on the market. Let’s see how they break down.

  1. Laticrete Stonetech Bulletproof is sold in one-quart bottles for a price of $48.40. The bottle treats 100 square feet of stone, which means that eight ounces would treat 25 square feet and cost $12.10. The price per square foot is $.484, or 32 times as much as SimpleCoat. It would cost $480 to treat a thousand square feet.

  2. Miracle Sealants 511 Porous Plus Sealer is also sold in one-quart bottles, but for the lower price of $25.40. The bottle treats 1,000 square feet of stone, so the price per square foot is easy to calculate at $.0254, or $25.40 for 1,000 square feet. That’s 1.69 times as much as SimpleCoat.

  3. Tuff Duck is sold in a one-gallon container for $125. The whole container covers 800 square feet or stone, meaning that 8 ounces would cover 50 square feet at a cost of $.15 per square foot, or $150 per 1,000 square feet. That’s nearly 10 times the cost of SimpleCoat.

You can do the same calculation with any other stone sealer you find on the market by figuring out the cost to cover one square foot of stone or stainless steel. The cost per square foot is the most accurate way to compare costs.

WHY SIMPLECOAT IS THE BEST STONE SEALER ON THE MARKET

As you can see, SimpleCoat has the lowest price per square foot of coverage. That means that, while the price on the bottle might be higher than some other stone sealers on the market, you’ll get more bang for your buck using SimpleCoat.

In addition, SimpleCoat is:

  • Nontoxic: contains no noxious or harsh chemicals, VOCs, solvents or petroleum distillates

  • Odor-free, fragrance-free and dye-free

  • Safe to use around food, children and pets

  • Easy to use: wipe on, wipe off excess; no drying or curing time required

  • For use all stone surfaces as well as stainless steel and plastics

It’s important to choose products that are safe to use in your home and versatile. SimpleCoat can be used on many interior and exterior surfaces, making it a versatile and affordable product.

CONCLUSION

Before you invest in a stone sealer to use in your home, it’s important to research the cleaning products available and analyze their cost to ensure you’re getting a fair deal. The ideal stone sealer for your family should be effective, safe, easy to use, versatile and affordable – and SimpleCoat fits the bill.
